Building Private/Hybrid Clouds with Open Source Software
Session Type:
Presentation - 45 Minutes
Abstract:
We look at why cloud computing is taking shape, how cloud and open source are a natural fit, and why FOSS offers a better business model. We note that 'FOSS' has an 'F' as in 'Freedom', and in 'Fun' and the 'Future' and that open source cloud platforms like Eucalyptus are changing the dynamics and bringing in transparency to the cloud at large. We'll also outline basics of cloud computing models, principles, and open source implementations before showcasing several use cases of Governments, Academia and Industry using open source cloud components for building private and hybrid clouds. Finally, we point to potential future directions that we believe will foster greater innovation in this space.
