Abstract: 
"NewSQL" is the most happening thing in the OLTP DB domain. It termed as the next generation alternative to NoSQL and "OldSQL" for OLTP. This technology focuses on the current problems plaguing in the OLTP DB domain, namely SPRAIN (Scalability, Performance, Relaxed Consistency, Agility, Intricacy, and Necessity). As always Open sources pioneer this technology and there are quite a few of them. Typical ones are VoltDB, Continuent. This talk focusses on the space of NewSQL with emphasis on the scalability and replication technology. It provides insight into the open source alternatives available and finally recommends certain typical cases where these could be used.
